Our Story

African aviation maintenance has a visibility problem.

The continent faces real challenges — a shortage of certified engineers, gaps in maintenance infrastructure, and training institutions that cannot yet meet growing demand. But beneath those challenges lies a second, compounding problem: a fundamental gap in credible, accessible intelligence about what actually exists, what actually works, and what the people keeping Africa's aircraft airworthy actually experience.

That gap is why African MRO Intelligence exists.

"AMI was founded by Isaac, a Nigerian aeronautical engineer who spent years working at the leading edge of high-precision engineering in Europe — and kept looking back at African aviation with a quiet frustration."

The data wasn't there. Not from regional aviation bodies. Not from global publishers. Not from anyone tracking the continent's maintenance ecosystem with the depth and honesty it deserves.

So we decided to build it.

AMI is not a news aggregator or a promotional directory. It is an intelligence platform — designed to map real maintenance capacity, track the workforce pipeline, and tell the human stories behind African aviation maintenance with rigour and transparency. We cover the engineers on night shifts, the students navigating licensing systems that weren't built with them in mind, the facilities that exist on paper and the ones that genuinely deliver, and the structural patterns that determine whether African aviation grows on its own terms or remains dependent on maintenance systems built elsewhere.

We are building this from the ground up, with honesty about what we know and what we are still learning. Our data carries confidence scores because we believe transparency about uncertainty is more valuable than false precision. Our coverage follows people, not just aircraft.

African aviation maintenance deserves its own dedicated, authoritative source of intelligence. That is what AMI is here to become.

Founder, African MRO Intelligence

Isaac Odoma is an aeronautical engineer and System Qualification Engineer at ASML in the Netherlands. He founded AMI after recognising that credible, accessible MRO data for Africa simply doesn't exist — not from regional bodies or global publishers. AMI's mission is to change that: building awareness, tracking the developments that matter, and serving as a dedicated intelligence source focused on the people, safety, and growth of African aviation maintenance.
